Leaf it Alone has 54 Steam achievements, 18 for each map: Hometown, Castle and Sakura. Most come from cleaning areas, finding collectibles and small challenges. The hardest are Need for Sweep (finish in under 40 minutes, 6.7% of players) and Work smart, not hard (earn $700, 10.3%). Achievements only unlock in Story Mode or Custom Mode with Ranked enabled.
How Many Achievements Are There?
The game launched with 18 achievements on the original map. Update 1.1 on October 30, 2026 added the Castle and Sakura maps, each with its own 18. That brings the total to 54.
Each map has a handful of story achievements you cannot miss, plus missable challenges and collectibles. The official update notes say achievements count only in Story Mode, or in Custom Mode with Ranked enabled. Ranked keeps the default settings so everyone plays under the same rules.

Best Order for Hometown 100%
Most guides split Hometown into two runs. The first run combines Craftsman, Work smart, not hard and Perfectionist, which means no leaf inlets and stockpiling bags until the leaf-value bonuses are in. The second run is a speedrun for Need for Sweep, where inlets are allowed.
Do the leaf-based achievements before cleaning everything, such as Leaf of Faith, Seal the Deal, Trashketball and the dunks. Earn the $700 before entering the secret room, because money after the ending does not count. Back up your save before the garage sprint.
The Hardest Achievements
Need for Sweep is the rarest Hometown achievement at 6.7%. It needs a tight route through only the required areas, with inlets and fast upgrades. Our Need for Sweep guide has the full route.
Work smart, not hard needs $700 from about $736 of possible income, so the margin is thin. Craftsman fails the moment you repair one inlet, even by misclicking. Read the Work smart, not hard guide before starting that run.
Story Achievements You Cannot Miss
Every map has story achievements that unlock simply by progressing. On Hometown these are I am speed, Shed Happens, Vacationist, King of the Jungle and Infiltrator. They are hidden on Steam until you earn them.
Castle's story set opens room by room, ending with Your Excellency at the Throne Room. Sakura's ends with 500k leaves later..., earned by grabbing the acorn at the ancient tree. You will get all of these on any normal playthrough.
Senior Investor: Every Tool Upgrade
Senior Investor needs every tool and every tool upgrade. Upgrades are bought from the Upgrades tab in your journal, with three upgrade lines each for the Hand, Rake and Leaf Blower. You will earn enough money during a full playthrough to buy everything.
Leaf inlets are not part of it, so you can skip them for Craftsman. The Maze bonus gives 10% off upgrades but is not required either. Here are the tools sold in the shed.
| Item (shed) | Price | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Medium Leaf Bag | $0.75 | Bag holds 200 leaves |
| Large Leaf Bag | $3.49 | Bag holds 500 leaves |
| Rake | $7.49 | Rake leaves into piles or inlets |
| Leaf Blower | $49.99 | Blow leaves around or into inlets |
Craftsman: Avoiding the Leaf Inlets
Craftsman fails the moment you repair a leaf inlet, so you need to know where all eight are. Hovering over an inlet is safe, but clicking it repairs it. Collect leaves near inlets carefully, or blow them away first once you have the blower.
| Leaf inlet | Repair cost |
|---|---|
| Porch, right side | $0 |
| Porch, left side | $3 |
| Court side of the garage | $3 |
| Swings, back of the garage | $6 |
| Grill area, house side | $10 |
| Pool | $15 |
| Maze, back of the house | $20 |
| Path to the Greenhouse | $25 |
