Leaf it Alone: Some Leaves Are Missing (99.9% Fix)

Last updated: November 2, 2026

If some leaves are missing in Leaf it Alone, they have usually been pushed into another area or are stuck against a wall, corner or object. Press V to highlight only the current area's leaves, check the Journal map for the remaining count, and sweep edges with the rake or blower. If they still will not show, reload or restart the game, then send your save to the developers.

Why Leaves Go Missing

Every leaf belongs to the area it started in, no matter where it ends up. When you blow, rake or simply walk through leaves, some drift into a neighbouring area. They still count for their original area, so that area sits at 99.9% while the leaf lies somewhere else.

Leaves also get stuck against geometry or blend into grey surfaces. The developers explain that most missing-leaf reports come down to an overlooked leaf or an outdated game version. Because the leaf physics runs on the graphics card, they say some rare cases may depend on specific hardware.

How to Find the Last Leaves

Start with the V key, which highlights leaves of the current area and greys out all others. Open the Journal with Tab and hover each area on the map to see how many leaves remain. Since update 1.1, fully cleaned areas are also coloured on the map.

Next, sweep the edges and corners with the rake or leaf blower. Leaves wedged against walls often pop out once you push air or the rake across them. One player reported using the blower to flush out every hidden leaf this way.

  • Press V to show only the current area's leaves.
  • Check remaining counts on the Journal map (Tab).
  • Rake or blow along walls, corners and under objects.
  • Check neighbouring areas for drifted leaves.

Common Hiding Spots

Players and the developers point to the same handful of places again and again. Pool leaves often end up under the sun loungers in the Grill area, because walking past knocks them over. Single leaves also get stuck at the pool corners without falling in.

Other frequent spots include the edge of the shed roof and the greenhouse benches. Grey surfaces hide leaves surprisingly well, and one player found a missing leaf simply resting on a bench. Check these before assuming a bug.

SpotWhy leaves end up there
Under the sun loungers / grill tablesEasily knocked there from the Pool
Pool corners and rimLeaves stick instead of falling in
Around benches and greenhouse benchesHard to see and reach
Edge of the shed roofBlown or kicked to the edge

Reload or Restart the Game

If a careful search turns up nothing, save and quit to the main menu, then load again. Several players report that missing leaves reappeared after restarting the game, often in a corner. One player said turning the game off and on a few times made the leaves show up.

Make sure you are on the latest version, because many collider fixes have been patched in. If the leaf is still gone, send your save file to support@eternitygames.net or message the developers on the official Discord. They ask for save files in the Steam discussions so they can look at the problem.

Fixes the Developers Have Already Made

Patch 1.0.12 fixed a rare bug that corrupted saves when you saved while a leaf inlet was in use, which caused missing leaves. It also added an automatic save validator that restores saves affected by that bug. If you had the problem on an old version, updating may fix it on its own.

Other patches added colliders so leaves stop slipping into unreachable spots around the map and the basement. Patch 1.0.3 made it easier to pull leaves from under the greenhouse benches. Patch 1.0.16 fixed leaves turning completely flat and clipping underground.

  • 1.0.3: easier to pull leaves from under the greenhouse benches.
  • 1.0.4: greenhouse leaves no longer clip through the floor.
  • 1.0.12: fixed save corruption during leaf inlet use, plus a save validator.
  • 1.0.14: leaves no longer disappear when quitting the game.
  • 1.0.16: flat leaves no longer clip underground; better basement colliders.

How to Avoid Losing Leaves

Blow leaves toward the centre of an area or straight into a leaf inlet rather than across area borders. Clean edges first, then work inward, so leaves do not get pushed into corners. This also makes each area faster to finish.

Avoid saving while a leaf inlet is busy swallowing leaves on old versions. Keep an eye on the area percentage as you work instead of only at the end. If one area hits 99.9%, check the next area over before searching the whole map.

Using the Journal Map

Open the Journal with Tab and switch to the map to see every area. Hovering an area shows how far you have progressed, how many leaves you collected and the total. This tells you exactly how many leaves are missing and where they belong.

Update 1.1 improved the map further with markers for leaf inlets and trash bins. Fully cleaned areas are now coloured, so you can spot the unfinished one at a glance. Patch 1.0.14 also made the visibility filter reset after you finish the focused area.

Using the Rake and Blower to Flush Leaves

Hand-picking is slow for hunting strays, so tools help a lot. The Rake costs $7.49 in the shed and pulls leaves out of tight corners. The Leaf Blower costs $49.99 and pushes leaves out from under objects.

Sweep along the walls of the stuck area, then blow everything toward the middle. One player reported flushing out every hidden leaf this way after a careful search. Just avoid blowing leaves across area borders, or you will create new strays.

Steam Deck and Hardware Issues

Early on, leaves on Steam Deck behaved like a fluid and flowed in odd ways. The developers fixed this in patch 1.0.12, saying it only affected the Steam Deck. The same patch gave the game its Steam Deck Verified badge.

The developers also note that leaf physics runs on the graphics card. That means a few cases may come from specific hardware, and they patch those when they find them. Meeting the minimum requirements and staying updated rules out most problems.

Why the Last Leaf Matters

Several story unlocks need an area at 100%, such as the Pool opening the Greenhouse. A single missing leaf can therefore block your progress. The same applies to Leaf No Leaf Behind, which needs all leaves cleaned.

For the full list of what each area unlocks, see our area unlock guide. If you are going for every achievement, our achievements guide covers the order to do things in. Doing leaf-based achievements before the final clean-up saves frustration.
