The "royal deck" players search for is the set of 8 playing cards hidden in the Castle map, added in the free 1.1 update. Collect all eight, from the Shop to the Throne Room, to unlock Poker Hand. The game itself does not use the name "Royal Deck", so look for the playing cards in your Castle journal.
What the Royal Deck Is
No official page, patch note or achievement in Leaf it Alone uses the term Royal Deck. The name comes from players, because the playing cards are hidden around a royal castle with a Throne Room. In the game they are simply the Castle's playing cards.
Castle is one of two free maps added in update 1.1 on October 30, 2026. In Story Mode the maps are played in sequence, so you reach Castle after the original map. Do not confuse these cards with Sakura's battle cards or Hometown's mysterious photos.
All 8 Castle Playing Card Locations
The cards are listed roughly in the order you reach their rooms. Locations combine a Steam guide, a Destructoid guide and a full 100% video run. Grab each one as soon as the room opens.
| # | Castle area | Exact spot |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Shop | Under the bottom shelf of the cabinet |
| 2 | Fresco | Behind the shield next to the squirrel statue |
| 3 | Dining Room (Dinette) | At the exit just before the Stairs |
| 4 | Ruins | On the castle wall, on one of the battlements |
| 5 | Terrace | On one of the battlements (merlons) |
| 6 | Garden of Love | On the beams in the middle |
| 7 | Leaf Garden | On a ledge of one of the columns |
| 8 | Throne Room | On the threshold as you enter |
Card-by-Card Walkthrough
The first card is in the Shop, under the bottom shelf of the cabinet. The second hides behind the shield next to the big squirrel statue in the Fresco. The third sits at the Dining Room exit, just before the Stairs.
Cards four and five are both on the castle battlements. One is on the Ruins wall, which you can also see from the Dining Room, and the other is on the Terrace. Scan the merlons along the top of the walls in both places.
The sixth card is on the beams in the middle of the Garden of Love. The seventh rests on a ledge of one of the columns in the Leaf Garden. The eighth lies on the Throne Room threshold, so you collect it as you enter.
Castle Areas You Need to Unlock
Castle opens room by room as you clean, so the cards follow the story order. The Throne Room opens last, after you clean both the Love Garden and the Leaf Garden. Each step has its own story achievement.
| Clean | Opens | Achievement |
|---|---|---|
| Gate | Courtyard | Parole |
| Stairs | Hallway | Castle or Museum? |
| Fresco | Dinette | Bon Appétit! |
| Terrace | Love Garden | Carefree Corner |
| Love Garden + Leaf Garden | Throne Room | Your Excellency |
Poker Hand and Castle Conquered
Picking up the eighth card unlocks Poker Hand, the achievement for collecting all playing cards. The set also counts toward Castle Conquered, which needs every Castle objective. One guide notes Castle Conquered can pop as you open the Throne Room if everything else is done.
One guide warns not to enter the red-carpet room after getting the key items from the Love Garden and Leaf Garden until your missable achievements are done. Finish the mini-games and card hunt first, then head to the Throne Room. That keeps the full Castle set within one visit.
Other Castle Achievements to Grab on the Way
While hunting cards you pass every Castle activity. The crossbow opens after you clean the Armory and needs 70 or more points for Bullseye. The 67 Club asks for exactly 67: five 10s, one 5 and four 3s.
- Know your place: sort the flower petals.
- Librarian: put all 6 books back on the shelf.
- Ring My Bell: drop a leaf bag on the Library tower bell from the bookshelf.
- Trade Master: sell one bag for $10 with the 800-leaf bag and max capacity.
- No Peeking!: finish the memory game in the Dinette.
- A Little to the Right: solve the sliding puzzle in the Labyrinth.
- Piece by piece and Sisyphus: build all 3 mosaics, then break and rebuild one.
Castle Mini-Game Tips
Castle's mini-games sit along the card route, so it is easy to clear them together. For the flower petals, one guide says you can hover over a petal and press a number key instead of dragging. The memory game changes every reset, so there is no fixed solution.
The sliding puzzle in the Labyrinth uses numbered tiles. One guide suggests placing tiles 9 and 13 first on the last two rows, then 10 and 14, and so on. The puzzle layout also changes each reset.
Trade Master and the 800-Leaf Bag
Castle has its own shop beneath the Dinette, and the first playing card hides under its bottom shelf. The shop sells the largest leaf bag, holding 800 leaves, on the wall near the hanging skull. One guide says it has to be bought twice.
To sell a single bag for $10, max out Bag Capacity under Hand in the Upgrades tab. Then clean the Terrace, Fresco and Shooting Range for their leaf-value bonuses. Fill the 800-leaf bag and throw it into a bin.
Crossbow Tips for Bullseye
The crossbow is up the stairs from the courtyard and works after you clean the Armory. Bullseye needs 70 points or more. One guide aims for the yellow circle on the first row, the top of the red on the second and the top of the blue on the third.
For The 67 Club you need exactly 67 points. Hit the 10-point yellow five times, the 5-point red once and the 3-point blue four times. One guide suggests getting the tens first, then the threes, then the five.
How Rare Castle Achievements Are
Castle launched on October 30, 2026, so few players have finished it yet. On the official Steam page, Bullseye and Know your place sit at 4.7%. Piece by piece is the rarest visible one at 2.7%.
Poker Hand is one of the hidden Castle achievements, so its rate is not shown until you unlock it. Expect these numbers to rise as more players reach the new maps. Getting the full set now puts you in a small group.
Royal Deck FAQ
Is the Royal Deck a separate DLC? No, it is the playing card set inside the free Castle map. The 1.1 update is free for everyone who owns the game. Old saves are fully compatible.
Where are the Sakura cards? Sakura has its own eight battle cards for Gotta Find 'em All. See the card locations guide for both new maps. The original map's photos are on the photo locations page.
