To get perfection in Leaf it Alone, unlock Perfectionist by completing all 14 objectives in your journal on the Hometown map. Each objective matches an achievement, from finding a way into the garage to infiltrating the secret room. Do the leaf-based objectives before cleaning every leaf, and Perfectionist pops when you finish the game.
What Perfectionist Requires
Perfectionist's official description is "Complete all objectives in the game". Only 25.3% of Steam players have it. The objectives live in your journal, opened with Tab.
New objectives appear as you progress, so the list grows over time. For example, buying the rake adds the objective to jump into a big leaf pile. Since patch 1.0.14, the journal also shows how many objectives you have completed.
All 14 Journal Objectives
Every objective lines up with an achievement of the same goal. Finishing all of them is what unlocks Perfectionist. Here is the full list from the community guides.

Achievements You Do Not Need
Three Hometown achievements are not journal objectives. Craftsman, Work smart, not hard and Need for Sweep do not count toward Perfectionist. You can skip them on a Perfectionist run.
That said, many players combine Perfectionist with Craftsman and Work smart, not hard on one save. Need for Sweep is usually saved for a separate speedrun. Plan which ones you want before you start.
The Right Order to Finish Them
Several objectives need loose leaves, so finish them before the final clean-up. Jump into a pile of 1,000 leaves, tie 5,000 leaves into bags, dunk a leaf bag and land a long throw while leaves are still around. One guide suggests making the 1,000-leaf pile in the pool with the blower.
Buying every upgrade takes money, so let it happen naturally as you clean. The secret room should come last, because entering it triggers the ending. Perfectionist usually unlocks right as you reach the secret room.
- Early: bag tying, garage, shed shopping, the three starting photos.
- Mid: dunks, long throw, 1,000-leaf pile, 5,000 leaves in bags.
- Late: all upgrades, all photos, all leaves.
- Last: the secret room.
Common Mistakes That Block Perfection
The most common mistake is cleaning every leaf before doing the leaf-pile or bag objectives. You would then need loose leaves you no longer have. Do these early to avoid restarting.
Another trap is a missing photo, usually inside the Greenhouse scarecrow's coat. A single leaf stuck at 99.9% can also hold back Clean up all leaves. See some leaves are missing for fixes.
Perfection on Castle and Sakura
The 1.1 maps each have their own complete-all-objectives achievement. On Castle it is Castle Conquered, and on Sakura it is Like a Monk. Both follow the same idea of finishing every journal goal on that map.
One Castle guide notes that Castle Conquered can pop when you open the Throne Room door if everything else is done. On Sakura, the story unlocks are not missable. Check the achievements guide for every objective on those maps.
Jump Into a Big Leaf Pile
The pile objective needs 1,000 leaves in one heap before you jump in. After jumping, the journal shows how many leaves the pile held, so you can tell if it was big enough. You usually need more than 1,000 raked together, because leaves do not stack perfectly.
Corners help piles stack higher, but you cannot jump into the very corner. One guide rakes the pile out of the corner once, then jumps into the middle. Another simply blows all the pool leaves into one corner of the pool.
Buy All Upgrades
The Buy all upgrades objective means every tool and every tool upgrade. That includes both bigger bags, the Rake, the Leaf Blower and all their upgrades. Leaf inlets do not count, so you can keep a Craftsman run clean.
| Item (shed) | Price | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Medium Leaf Bag | $0.75 | Bag holds 200 leaves |
| Large Leaf Bag | $3.49 | Bag holds 500 leaves |
| Rake | $7.49 | Rake leaves into piles or inlets |
| Leaf Blower | $49.99 | Blow leaves around or into inlets |
Upgrades are bought from the Upgrades tab in your journal. Hand upgrades are cheap, while the blower's top upgrades cost up to $50 each. You will have enough money by the end of a full playthrough.
The Throwing Objectives
Two objectives need tied bags, so clean the Porch early for bag tying. Hit the basket with a leaf bag, the basketball from the garage and the beach ball from the pool. The soccer ball does not count.
For the long throw, dump a bag from at least 15 meters away. A favourite method is jumping from the corner of the Court's free-throw line over the garage into the backyard bin. See how to throw a bag for details.
The Photo Objective
Collect mysterious photos needs all eight hidden around the Hometown map. Three are available at the start, and the rest unlock with the garage, Grill and Greenhouse. The scarecrow photo inside the coat is the one most players miss.
Check the photo locations guide for exact spots. The photos have no money value, so collect them whenever it is convenient. Just have them all before you crawl into the secret room.
All Objectives Speedruns
Speedrun.com has an All Objectives category for the Hometown map. Its rule is to complete every objective shown in the journal as fast as possible. The world record is 26:11.326 by SonOfTheNerd.
That shows a focused objectives run takes under half an hour once you know the route. For a normal player, finishing everything during one relaxed playthrough is the easiest path. See the speedrun guide for the other categories.
